No great landscape echoes more eloquently of times past than
Hadrian¹s Wall. Emotion-charged, this visual distillation
provides a rare insight at times of day and seasons of the year
that few visitors dare to know. Here, among this array of
individually amazing, and collectively astounding images,
Roger Clegg captures a succession of magic moments transporting
one back and forth in time and space.
While many now stride the National Trail from coast to coast
precious few witness the fired skies of dawn and dusk, see the
ghostly veils of mist as they unshawl from the crags or know the
beauty of drifting snow banked against this ancient frontier.
The Roman footprint is writ large, and yet the march of time has
cast long human shadows upon a palpably ancient land. Here lurk
legends from the age of Arthur, early Christian missionaries,
the Court of Kings, Reiver treachery, as well as evidence of
firsts in the industrial and cultural world.
Feast your eyes at this timeless treasury of images and take to
heart its enduring spirit. Roger Clegg¹s photography is not
merely a record of the Wall, it investigates and establishes its
character in context with its setting.

Northumberland is truly a county blessed with sheer natural
beauty. From the rolling but wild hills of the Cheviots, to the
picturesque valleys of Tynedale and the North Pennines, the
shear diversity is something that needs to be recorded. The
coastline is an area rich with history, nature, wildlife,
historic castles, stunning beaches and islands.
This coastline really does stand out nationally as an area to be
savoured and now Andrew Whitaker joins Roger Clegg to add his
images of the Northumberland Coastline to Hadrian’s Wall
Country’s ever expanding gallery.
